What is Rehome?
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We got Sam on Petfinder about 2 years ago. They said he was a friendly couch potato, but he had never lived inside and was friendly when you were feeding him. We transitioned him indoors (a long and frustrating process) and he still really wants to go outside. We also found out he has severe kidney damage, only ~20% kidney function, so we have been treating him for chronic kidney disease and taking him in for blood panels every 4-6 months to monitor. He is on daily pain meds, prescription food, and subcutaneous fluids (IV bag into his scruff). He is also prescribed Prozac due to his behavior, but hopefully in the right environment he won’t need that. He is anxious or unsatisfied. He paces around meowing. He also bites or plays too rough with every person and animal he interacts with, but thankfully backs off when another animal reacts negatively to him. He likes when things are happening - he might be happier in a busy home or as an indoor/outdoor cat. Happy to answer any questions.
