*FOSTERED IN NORTH CHARLESTON, SC*
Ace is a young, joyful pittie boy with a heart as big as his smile. His story hasn’t been easy. After being hit by a car in July and abandoned at the vet, he fought his way through recovery from a broken front leg, a fractured pelvis, and hip surgery. But Ace doesn’t dwell on the past. He greets every day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a true zest for life!
Currently, Ace is being fostered by a professional dog trainer and gets her stamp of approval! He thrives with structure. He absolutely loves training sessions and happily participates in his physical therapy exercises. He’s still (understandably) a little wary of fast or large vehicles, but his confidence grows with each walk. Because of his previous injuries, Ace’s exercise will need to remain structured and on leash. Too much free play can leave him sore. He now enjoys comfortable, controlled walks of about a mile and benefits from continued targeted PT to strengthen his left hind leg. We will share his PT exercises!
Ace is social, playful, and full of personality. His play style can be a bit rough as most bully breeds have, so a patient canine sibling and an owner able to monitor play would be great. Indoors, he does best with management around other dogs, as he can be a little possessive of high-value chews and his crate. These behaviors have improved significantly with training and clear rules, and his next home will need to continue that consistency.
He’s working hard on leash manners, settling on his “place,” and learning that he doesn’t need to bark when something startles him. He’s a smart, willing pup who blossoms with guidance, boundaries, and routine.
Ace’s Ideal Home:
Ace will thrive with someone who understands the needs of an adolescent bully breed. Someone committed to ongoing training, structured exercise, and providing the leadership he looks for. Breed experience is a huge plus. His foster would love to continue supporting his training after adoption to ensure a smooth, successful transition.
If you’re ready to invest in a resilient, loving, goofy young dog who will give you his whole heart, Ace might just be your perfect match. He’s overcome so much already; now he just needs a family to call his own.
Adoption Application: www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt
************************
Ace is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt
Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.
From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.
Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
