My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Intoducing this handsome tuxedo man: Poor Richard! Poor Richard came to TCR after being trapped as a stray outside, from an area with a few outdoor cats.

Richard is a sweet boy who loves pets and attention. He is a very chill cat who loves to hang out. But don’t let him fool you, he is still very playful!

Richard would do well as a single cat or with another calm cat. While Richard doesn’t mind other cats, he does not enjoy them up in his face. However, he does play with his (chill) foster brothers.

Richard does exhibit food insecurity. To help Richard overcome this, feeding him alone with slow feeders and food puzzles are what seems to work best. Currently his foster home uses a slow feeder for dry food and lick mats for his wet food which really helps Richard slow down while eating. Fortunately Richard is still easy to handle while eating. We think that he could live in a home with human family members of any age, but may do best with older, respectful kiddos.

Richard is estimated to be about two years old. He is neutered, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV+ / FeLV-. If you’re looking for a chill sibling for your current cat or a new furry friend to hang out with, Richard is your guy!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
