Meet Tater, the cutest, chunkiest, Idaho-sized spud you’ll ever meet!
This 4-year-old Corgi / Chihuahua mix is supposed to be a smaller sized dog, but clearly Tater was over fed by his previous owners. Tater tips the scales at 34 pounds, though his ideal weight is closer to 28 lbs... (He was 39 lbs when he arrived to our rescue!!! His foster has had him on a strict diet and he is so much healthier now).
Tater is a low-rider with short, stumpy legs and a chunky, adorable body. Now that Tater is safe with our rescue, he’s officially on a wellness journey to become the healthiest little tater tot he can be — so his future family should be excited to help him stick to a nutritious diet and regular exercise plan. His foster said that he actually loves playing fetch and going on walks!
Tater is a social little guy and loves every person he meets and would be happiest in a home where he can snooze in bed with his humans and finally start living the sweet spud life he deserves.
Tater's foster let us know that he is also potty trained!
Tater has been fully vetted, is up to date on his vaccines and neutered.
Farfel's Rescue would like to see Tater in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a little guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for every dog that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free virtual or in-person trainers in your area.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue
We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
