My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hazel is a 1–2 year-old Pitty mix who is finally getting her second chance at the good life. After spending a few months in a kennel, she’s now learning how wonderful it feels to have a warm home, soft beds, and people who love her.

This girl is pure joy wrapped in a wiggly, snuggly package:

Dog-friendly — she loves every pup she meets!

People-loving — her tail starts wagging the second she sees you.

Toy fan & snuggle queen — she can play, zoom, and then happily nap curled up next to you.

⚡️ Puppy energy, but settles beautifully — a great balance of fun and calm.

Needs reassurance outside — she’s learning the big world is safe and gets braver every day.

Working on personal space — she loves close snuggles and is learning boundaries gently and quickly.

Quick learner — every day she shows how smart, eager, and loving she truly is.

Hazel has been through a lot, but her heart has stayed soft and hopeful. She’s ready for a family who will show her what forever love looks like — someone patient, kind, and excited to watch her blossom.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
