My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

George is a charming senior gentleman with a heart full of love and a personality that fills a room. He's entering his golden years with a renewed zest for life, thanks to monthly arthritis injections that keep him comfortable and mobile. These treatments will need to continue, but they've made a remarkable difference - and he shows it in every happy trot and playful pounce.

He's also feeling extra fabulous after a recent dental procedure that left him more comfortable than ever. With his mouth feeling great and his joints supported, George is truly thriving.

This handsome indoor boy is equal parts cozy companion and playful goofball. When he's not curled up enjoying a quiet moment, he's chasing springs across the floor, darting through cat tunnels, or showing off his impressive wand‑toy hunting skills. Senior? Technically. Spirited? Absolutely.

George does have a sensitive tummy, so he does best on a gentle, consistent diet. Not every food agrees with him, but once he's on the right routine, he feels fantastic and lets his big personality shine.

He prefers to be the only animal in the home, where he can soak up all the attention and affection he deserves. He's also a devoted catnip enthusiast - offer him a sprinkle and you'll see his silly side in full force.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
