My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET "CASPER" TEXAS, HOUSTON

LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS

EMAIL: BigPawsK9FosterHouse@gmail.com

AVAILABLE FOR: FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION

NAME: "CASPER"

DOB: 1/5/25

BREED: GREAT PYRENEES x GOLDEN RETRIEVER

GENDER: MALE

SIZE: LARGE

HEALTH: GOOD

Casper may be a Great Pyrenees–Golden Retriever mix, but deep in his soul he is pure Great Pyrenees with all the goofy sweetness of a Golden sprinkled in. This handsome boy is a classic velcro dog—loyal, devoted, and happiest when he’s by your side. He thrives with an owner who understands Pyr behavior and can offer firm but gentle guidance.

Casper came to us off the streets with his sister, Goldie. Despite being injured and clawed up, he stood guard over her, protecting her until help arrived. He had puncture wounds and was in rough shape, but this boy has fully healed and blossomed beautifully under our care.

He would do wonderfully as an only dog, soaking up all the love and attention, but he also pairs well with a confident female companion. Casper is ready to leave his past behind and step into the life he deserves—with a family who appreciates his loyalty, intelligence, and giant-hearted nature.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Big Paws K9 Foster House is to establish a secure and nurturing haven for Anatolian Shepherds, Kangal, Great Pyrenees, Akbash and their mixes rescued from shelters, the streets, or unfortunate circumstances. Our dedicated team ensures a transitional environment either at the facility or within a foster home for these dogs until suitable forever homes can be identified for adoption. Throughout their stay with us, we prioritize the well-being of the dogs by affording them dedicated decompression time, compassionate care, and expert guidance. Our commitment extends to active engagement through structured work/play sessions, allowing us to comprehensively evaluate each dog's unique characteristics.
This thorough evaluation process enables us to provide detailed insights to our fosters, adopters, and our partnering rescue organizations. By offering a nuanced understanding of each dog's temperament, behavior, and needs, we aim to facilitate informed decision-making in placing these dogs into loving and appropriate homes.
Committed to education, we also promote spaying/neutering and work to make affordable vetting accessible within our community, championing responsible pet ownership for all.
