Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Opal, a tiny 6-pound treasure with a big heart and an even bigger love for her humans! This gorgeous girl is on the lookout for a forever family who appreciates constant companionship, soft snuggles, and a cat who genuinely wants to be part of everything you do.
Opal is what her foster lovingly calls a “shadow cat”—where you go, she goes. Whether you’re cooking, working, folding laundry, or simply walking across the room, she’s right at your feet, quietly observing with those big, adoring eyes. When she’s not following you around, she’s likely curled up nearby, napping peacefully until it’s cuddle time again.
And oh, does Opal love her cuddle time. Her mission in life is to get as close to you as physically possible—preferably snuggled against your face at night or tucked into your side like a tiny, warm marshmallow. She can be held like a baby, melts in your arms, and once she’s comfortable, she’s one of the chillest, sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. Plus, she begs for brushing and would happily be groomed all day if you let her.
Opal has a moderate energy level: lots of napping with fun bursts of play, especially when string toys or her feline foster brother are involved. She gets along beautifully with other cats and does great with gentle kids over five. She hasn’t met a dog yet, but her easygoing nature suggests she’d adjust well to a respectful one.
Because she’s such a petite girl, Opal thrives in smaller spaces where she can keep an eye on her people. She’s perfectly fine if her family is out during the day—she’ll be ready to greet you with purrs and snuggle attempts the moment you return.
If you want a loving, velcro-style companion who brings warmth, sweetness, and gentle charm into every room, Opal is waiting to meet you.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

How We Help

Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
