My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Dan arrived:
Dan was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement on November 18, 2025.

Why Dan is the one for you:
Meet Dan! Dan is a social and playful young dog who loves greeting new people with a wagging tail, a loose, happy body, and an enthusiastic bounce. He came in with his siblings Forrest (ID 957096) and Jenny (ID 957098), and he gets along well with them, often playing with soft and hard toys in the kennel. Dan is very affectionate and loves attention, though his puppy energy means he can get a little jumpy when excited. On walks, Dan is curious and loves to sniff his surroundings. He's still learning his manners on leash, but he is very receptive to guidance, especially when treats are used to reinforce good behavior. Dan thrives in a home that can provide consistent training, structure, and plenty of playtime. He has a friendly, outgoing personality and a lot of puppy energy, so he will do best with someone who is patient, able to provide guidance, and excited to help him learn proper manners. Be sure to bring a leash and collar when visiting Dan so you can safely explore and interact with him when going home.

At SDHS:
Dan has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
