Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rufus the Dufus!
Age: 2–3 years | Weight: 84 lbs of pure chaos and cuddles
Rufus didn’t have the easiest start — tied to a tree with a collar mark on his neck and fly bites on his ears — but now he’s living the good life and spreading joy (and occasional chaos) everywhere he goes.
We think Rufus might be some kind of European German Shepherd mix — he’s got the tall, leggy build of a Great Dane, the classic Shepherd coloring, the face of a Malinois, and the skull of a Dutch Shepherd. Honestly, we’re not 100% sure what he is… but we are 100% sure he’s made entirely of love.
This 84-lb goofball thinks he’s a lap dog. Recliner? Bear-hug central. Couch? He’ll wedge himself in like a furry human sandwich. Start petting him, and he’ll lean his full weight into you — a heavy, heart-melting lean that says you’re his person now.
Toys? Balls, squeakers, or anything that rolls — he’ll chase it, trip over himself, and somehow still look majestic. Zoomies are his cardio, and clumsiness is his signature move.
Rufus lives with a pack of big dogs — two GSDs, a Belgian Malinois, and a Dutch Shepherd — and he’s their self-appointed hype man. Cats? Curious and a little too excited. Kids? Instant best friend, guaranteed.
He has no food aggression, doesn’t guard resources, and isn’t fazed by loud noises — vacuums, thunderstorms, fireworks? Snooze. Counter surfing? Guilty as charged. But call his name, and he’ll usually saunter away like a gentleman (with a side of sass).
Car rides? Loves ’em. Walks? Harness preferred. Costumes? He once rocked an XL hotdog for Halloween like it was high fashion.
Rufus the Dufus is the perfect mix of goofball, cuddle monster, and loyal companion — if you can handle the clumsy zoomies, heavy lean-ins, and giant bear hugs, he’s ready to fill your life with laughter and love.
Rufus has another week and a half of vetting to complete, but we are accepting early applications for this handsome boy now!
