My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh, sweet Rolo. This brindle beauty is truly stunning - she’s probably some kind of Pit Bull type mix, but definitely gorgeous. She’s around 2-3 years old, currently 57 pounds, and on a weight gain journey since coming to us very underweight. She has a few more pounds to gain still but is now healthy enough that she was recently spayed to be ready for her forever home! Despite the hunger in her past, she takes treats SO gently and seems to be perfectly comfortable with people being around her while she eats.

Rolo currently lives with 40ish pound pibble foster sisters and could definitely live with a medium or large dog. She says cats are not part of her future dream home! We’re not sure about small dogs but would be happy to do a meet and greet after an approved application. There are no kids around her foster home but we think school age children could be a good fit.

This girl loves her Benebones and yak cheese chews and would love some seriously tough chew options for her very strong chew ability. She’s never chewed anything inappropriate in the house, but will need some help continuing to learn that paws don't go on counters and dog faces don't go in refrigerators because this curious, brave girl wants to be part of whatever you're doing. She’s very smart and should learn quickly with gentle guidance.

She can also be found bounding through the yard, springing into the air while whipping toys around. If you have a yard, she’d do best with a solid fence although it’s not a requirement. She potties and comes right back to the door to come inside, but her prey drive and climbing ability mean she’d need to be well supervised in chain link or on a tie-out. She’d be happy to go for walks with you as well, and would love to continue working on her leash manners since she’s a very strong girl.

Her housetraining has been flawless with supervision and regularly scheduled bathroom breaks. She sleeps in her crate at night and while her foster works outside of the home and is doing super well with that, so she should be able to transition into a home easily.

When her medium energy needs have been satisfied, she’s happy to curl up with you for pets. She really loves to be loved and is truly so sweet. It may take her just a minute or two to realize that a new person is a friend, but then she’ll be wagging her long tail so hard and putting her big block head in your hands.

Can you provide this girl with the kindness, warmth, and snacks she so deserves?

More about this rescue

Here at Cross Your Paws Rescue, we are driven by a single goal; to save lives. We are doing our part in making the world a better place for all pets. Our decision to start a rescue is not one that we have taken lightly, it has come after years of volunteer work with other groups. Our goal is to make this world a place where starving, abused animals is a thing of the past. That shelters filled with dogs and cats waiting to be euthanized is unheard of. We want euthanasia to be something to help pets on their way to the Rainbow bridge not to end lives because of overpopulation. We vow to save every life that we can. Please help us make this world a better place for every furbaby.
