My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ozma!

If you're looking to spice up your life, look no further than Miss Ozma! 💜

At only two years old, Ozma's life was suddenly shaken up when she was surrendered to the local pound. Luckily, she is now safe in our care. After showing signs of stress at the shelter, Ozma went to a foster home where she substantially calmed down and was thriving. Unfortunately, the foster was no longer able to care for her, so miss Ozma came back to the shelter. However, she is now much calmer and is enjoying her time with her roommate Nubby and friend Cookie!

This is what her foster mom has to say about Ozma:

"Ozma definitely has her quirks, but is extremely receptive to training. Being the smart cookie she is, she learns so quickly and became more secure by the day when she was with me.

Despite her hardships, Ozma is still a very loving cat and always gave me purrs of thanks. She absolutely loves to snuggle and wants to be close at all times. She is a very silly and curious girl and enjoys treat puzzles and her favorite sushi toys. In addition to being exceptionally beautiful, she is incredibly smart and will definitely give you lots of entertainment with her funny antics. She even gets along with other cats and dogs with proper introductions."

Ozma's story is just one example of how different environments can affect the behavior of cats. Most times, all they are in need of is a loving home. Please consider giving our sweet, misunderstood, Ozma the chance she deserves!

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
