My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Male, Schnauzer mix, 2-3 yrs, 16 lbs

Edgar is a kind and gentle old soul who came to us from the Weslaco Shelter near the border of Mexico. He’s an absolute doll to have around — calm, loving, and grateful for every bit of attention. Edgar gets along beautifully with everyone and adores people. What he deserves most now is a home of his very own, where he can finally relax and be loved for the rest of his days.

Medical: HW + (will be treated before adoption) Chagas positive *started on Dr. Madigans protocol.

Edgar has a low titre of 20 and we have been advised to retest all 20 tires 30 days after treatment due to the test producing false positives. If he tests negative on his second test 12/6/2025 he will stop meds. Due to testing positive for both HW and Chagas, he will not be eligible for transport to St. Augustine on Dec. 20th.

With treatment, Chagas is fully curable, and dogs go on to live long, happy lives. Tracy’s Paws is one of the first rescues to test every dog for Chagas, and we’ve had measurable success with our treatment protocol. We are also committed to educating adopters and the public about Chagas so even more dogs can be helped. Learn more here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/chagas

Every dog adopted through Tracy’s Paws receives:
• Chagas, heartworm, and tick testing (when age-appropriate)
• All core vaccines (age-appropriate)
• Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives
• Regular Deworming
• Spay/neuter surgery
• Microchip

Breed listings are our best guess, based on appearance.

More about this rescue

My name is Tracy. I started Tracy's Paws Rescue with my dear friend Rhonda Harmon. Texas has a lot of unwanted stray dog on the streets and in our shelters. We are dedicated to helping them find loving families. We rescue, spay/neuter, adopt out, transport, educate through the Live Like a Dog PAWS program and advocate for stronger laws and the enforcement of existing ones.
