My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Cosmic Brownie!

I’m a shy little guy at first and can be a bit hesitant when I meet new people, but if you give me some patience and kindness, I promise I’ll warm up and show you just how sweet I am. Once I feel safe, I love affection and being close to my people.

Loud noises and quick movements over my head make me a little nervous, so I do best in a calm, gentle environment where I can take things at my own pace. I’m still learning my manners and working on commands like sit and stay, so I’ll need someone who’s willing to help me keep learning.

I absolutely love chasing toys, especially squeaky ones, and I enjoy running around and exploring everything around me! I get along well with other dogs, but I’d like a meet-and-greet first just to make sure we’re a good match. I’m curious about cats, but I’ve shown no aggression toward them.

I may be shy, but with love, patience, and encouragement, I know I’ll gain confidence and be the best companion you could ask for.

More about this shelter

New Hope Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization servicing Volusia County Florida since 1955.
Our policy is no-kill. We will NOT euthanize an animal to make room or to reduce pet overpopulation. “adoptable” means an animal is healthy and well-adjusted, not ill or injured, and can be safely made available to the public for adoption. We reserve the right to refuse admission due to space availability, or if the animal is dangerous, in poor health, or otherwise deemed un-adoptable.
