Krypto is a 1-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing about 72 pounds, and he’s a wonderful blend of affectionate love bug and energetic adventure buddy. Beneath his handsome, sturdy build is a deeply people-oriented dog who wants to be close to his humans as much as possible. He’s never met a stranger and has a particular fondness for men, though he truly loves all people. Krypto should do well with grade-school-aged children who understand dog manners. Due to his size and playful nature, small children are not recommended at this time.
At home, Krypto is happy to relax with his people and will gladly nap nearby or snuggle on the furniture if invited. He especially enjoys sleeping in bed with his human. That said, he is not a low-energy couch potato. Krypto thrives when he gets plenty of physical and mental exercise throughout the day. He loves long walks, running with his foster dad, extended games of fetch, food puzzles, and burning off steam with zoomies in a fenced yard. While he can be a lazy nap buddy when that’s the plan, he truly shines in an active household. A fenced yard is strongly preferred, as he benefits from space to run, play, and decompress.
Krypto knows “sit,” enjoys car rides, and loves playing with his humans. He is smart, eager to learn, and currently working on skills like recall and “go to bed.” When he sees or hears other dogs while on leash, he can become excitable and vocal, pulling and barking out of enthusiasm. Structured introductions, continued training, and patient handling will help him keep making the steady progress he’s already showing. He does best with guidance, routine, and an experienced adopter who is prepared to work with him on separation anxiety and leash manners. Krypto has been making improvement in both areas and responds well to consistency and appropriate outlets for his energy. He startles at loud or sudden noises but is bravely working through those fears and gaining confidence with time and positive reinforcement. He’ll do best in a home without shared walls.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who loves adventures just as much as snuggles, Krypto could be a wonderful match. He needs patience, structure, exercise, and lots of love in return, and he will give his whole heart to the people who give him that chance. Krypto’s adoption fee is $100, plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
