My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nike
Registered OTTB "Pinetree Pro"
DOB: 4/05/2011, 16.2hh
*Updated winter pictures available soon.

Growing up on the track, Nike earned more than $109k! Having had several owners during that time frame, we're hoping we can help Nike find his forever home. For a number of years prior to coming to Lollypop Farm, he had just been loved on as a pasture pal.

Nike has been fostered by our trainer so that she could work with him to be a rideable horse. Coming to us underweight and under-muscled, we knew it would be a journey. He lunges well and has great ground manners. Unfortunately, he has made it clear that he doesn't want to be ridden. If an adopter would like more info on this, we'd be happy to share what we have tried so far and how he reacts. On the other hand, he has done so much in his life and would be happy to be loved on for the rest of his life as a pasture pet.

Nike has lived well with both mares and geldings. He came to us with his friend Lindsay, another of our adoptable horses, where they lived in a group setting. He has always been bottom of the totem pole during turnout.

We hope you'll consider giving this gorgeous boy the retirement he deserves.

He will have a medical waiver stating that at this time, he is companion only, and may never be rideable. If an adopter would like to pursue more medical investigation and intervention to see if can be happy and comfortable while being ridden, they may do so.

More about this shelter

Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.

Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.

Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
