My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A bit about Obi
- Likes meeting new people
- Okay with children
- he is selective about his dog friends, may be best as the only dog in the house
- Not good with cats.

Obi is a loyal, affectionate companion who loves being close to his people. He thrives on togetherness, enjoys learning new things, and is more than happy to follow you from room to room. He's also an A+ snuggler-his favorite moments are spent curled up under a shady tree while you read, watch the clouds, or enjoy a cozy nap together.

Obi does like to use his voice and will bark (loudly!) when he hears or sees something interesting. Because of this, he hasn't been successful in homes where he shares a wall with neighbors. He knows some basic commands and is eager to please, though he is strong and sometimes uses his size to get his way. He's currently a bit on the plump side, so a healthy diet and some extra activity will do him well.

With his strength, smarts, loyalty, and snuggly personality, Obi will make a wonderful partner for an active person or family who also appreciates slow, lazy afternoons together.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
