From the Foster Home: A confident girl with a long, beautiful coat, a typical shepherd personality and with lots of love to give. Emmie is around 7 years young - she is very young at heart. She`s affectionate, steady, and self-assured, always interested and observing the world around her. She is thrilled about everything and is ALWAYS ready to go, don’t let her age fool ya. She is very strong and generally walks well on leash but she needs some work on containing her non-stop excitement. Emmie is so gentle when it comes to food. Some of it is because her teeth were not cared for, so she is slow and steady when it comes to eating. She has the eagerness of a younger dog but because she is a bit older, so she needs an adopter who will care for all of her needs, including future ones. Emmie has lived with other dogs before and is living with two large males in her foster home. She is confident and playful, which not all dogs love, so she`ll need slow, thoughtful introductions to any new canine companions. She does fantastic in her crate and does not have any separation anxiety but she will need her daily exercise. If you`re looking for a mature, loyal companion who will go on any adventure and also chill out with you on the couch, she may be your perfect match. She`s ready to spend her golden years living life to the fullest and in a home where she can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the wonderful dog she is. The dog adoption fee is $90. They come spayed/neutered, microchipped, first set of vaccines including DAPP (parvo combo), Bordatella (kennel cough), have been dewormed with Pyrantel, and have been treated with selamectin for fleas.
Our website updates every hour, but some animals may be adopted faster than we can get them updated online.
If you`d like to check on the status of an animal, please call us at 360-352-2510. This is especially important if you are viewing this animal on any site other than Animal Services` website.

How much does it cost?
Cats are $70 and dogs are $90, no matter the age, breed, or sex of the animal.
We sometimes have other types of pets available for adoption, such as rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and other small animals. Adoption fees vary, depending upon the animal
--------------------------------------
How do I adopt a pet?
Once you visit the shelter and select your pet, you will be asked to complete an adoption application. The application will include information about how you plan to care for your new friend, where he or she will live, what your expectations of the pet's behavior may be and whether pets already in your home are legally licensed.
If you do not own your home, we will need to contact the legal property owner to verify that you may have the pet you are interested in.
Certain animals will have specific adoption requirements in addition to the general requirements. These can include a fence check, no small kids, etc.
If your application is approved, you will be asked to complete several other forms including an adoption contract. This process takes approximately 30 minutes.
The pet you select will remain at the shelter for transport to the veterinarian for its spay/neuter surgery.
