My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skip is 11 years old, and he’s the perfect mix of senior sweetness with just enough pep to keep life interesting. This handsome black Lab arrived at UPAWS as a stray, and while we don’t know his past, we can tell you this: he’s kind, gentle, and so ready for a soft, loving place to land.

Skip enjoys leisurely walks, sniffing around the yard, and being part of whatever his people are doing — nothing wild, nothing over-the-top, just a nice, easy pace. He’s got a little spring left in his step, but he’s also a big fan of comfy beds, quiet time, and soaking up affection.

He’s polite with other dogs and would do well in a calm home with adults or respectful older children who appreciate a mellow, good old boy.

If you’ve ever dreamed of giving a senior dog a peaceful, loving retirement, Skip might be your guy. He has a gentle heart, a sweet spirit, and he’s so ready to finally feel at home.

Better yet, fill out an adoption interest form.
If a meet and greet is scheduled, please bring your whole human and dog household along.

Please help us share Skip so he can find the caring family he’s been waiting for. Or come meet him at UPAWS — he just might be the one you’ve been hoping for.

More about this shelter

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.

We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.

UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
