My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Stella - the cat for those of us attracted to bad relationships. Do you enjoy being treated by your pets with distain, like they wished you don't exist? Have you ever wanted to be simultaneously judged and ignored on a daily basis? Well, you've come to the right place.

Stella was rescued by TCR when she and several of her colony-mates were at risk of being trapped and euthanized due to a disgruntled neighbor being unhappy that they were living next door / being cared for outside.

While most of Stella's colony-mates have since been adopted (and *maybe* even grew to like us), Stella is still being a bit of a holdout. She isn't mean or aggressive, but she simply prefers not to be bothered. She can be petted but is almost guaranteed to give a defiant hiss to show that she has not yet succumbed to Stockholm Syndrome here at TCR. She does great with other cats and has made friends with a stream of them who have passed in and out of the foster room during her time here. Really, who can blame her... we also prefer cats to people ;-)

She'd do best with a patient adopter who is willing to give her plenty of time to adjust and has reasonable expectations of friendship. We assume she'd prefer to go to a child-free home, unless they can ignore her.

If you are looking for a good companion cat to another friendly or chill cat, and don't mind a cat who doesn't care much for you, consider Stella (and possibly a foster friend?)

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
