My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET PONCHO! May benefit from a confident cat friend!

Poncho came to us from a home with lots of cats, meaning he is used to being surrounded with cat friends to keep him company and may have not spent as much time with different people. Because of this, he is more shy than your “typical” cat. He has just left the only home he has ever had and now he is trying to adjust to shelter life, which is understandably difficult for him. This will also be true of his transition to a new home; it may take a lot of time, patience, and trust for him to adjust and feel comfortable and safe again. He may benefit from another confident cat to learn from.

Poncho is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered/spayed, microchipped and seen by our vet team.

For more information on Poncho or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

More about this shelter

Pets are family. This belief is at the heart of everything we do at the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

We are the first female-founded animal welfare organization in Massachusetts and are proud to carry on a legacy of kindness and compassion, helping more than 20,000 animals annually since 1899.

Recognized for our innovative, award-winning programs that go beyond sheltering, we address the root causes of the issues facing animals and the people who love them.

By partnering with communities, we help animals heal and thrive, keep pets and people together, and protect animals from harm.

Because there is no government funding for this important work, animals must rely on people like you to get the care they need, when they need it most, 365 days a year.
