My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Erwin!

Erwin and his siblings Levi and Zoe, as well as their mom Tetra, two other cats, and a senior pitbull were all surrendered to Paterson Animal control after their elderly owner unfortunately passed away. Luckily, we were able to take all of them!

Erwin, while more timid than his siblings, is very sweet and mild tempered. He's mellow, but still likes to play and wrestle with his brother and sister! We love to joke that they look like a pack of shadows when they run because they stick right by each other. All three of these babies are incredibly sweet and love attention - and churus!

While being looked over by our vets, they did discover that Erwin and his sister Zoe have mild heart murmurs, around grade 1. Erwin's heart murmur may be something he grows out of down the line, but for his health, it should be monitored during yearly checkups.

This little guy is an absolute gem and would be an amazing addition to your family if you're willing to give him the chance!

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
