My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rhys is the perfect match for anyone who loves a cat with personality. He's expressive, hilarious, and wonderfully communicative. This boy talks - his signature "mah!" while getting pets is guaranteed to make you smile.

Rhys is all about connection. His dream day is simple: find a warm lap, settle in, and soak up affection. He'll follow you around, chat about his feelings, and proudly parade his toys like a tiny panther showing off his catch.

He also has boundaries, and he's very clear about them. If Rhys needs space, he'll tell you with a growl or a swat - never out of the blue, always with warning. Respect those signals, and you'll earn his trust, his loyalty, and his very best snuggles. He's a bit of a weirdo, but in the most endearing way.

Rhys thrives in a calm, adult‑only home with cat‑savvy humans who appreciate a feline with opinions. He's sensitive to people's energy and does best with someone confident, patient, and steady. Once he bonds, he bonds deeply.

He has a history of urinary issues, but he's doing great on his current Hill's C/D + Metabolic diet and will need to stay on it. He also takes his medication like a champ.

If you're a fellow quirky soul looking for a companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and curl up in your lap like it's his life's purpose, Rhys might be your guy.

Think you might be his person?

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
