My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Leo was brought in by his previous owner on May 28, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Leo! Ever the observer, Leo thrives in the quiet moments at the shelter. He prefers to keep an air of mystery, just waiting for the right human to crack the code to his heart. But we'll let you in on the secret - patience and compassion are what he seeks! This beautiful boy prefers to go slow and open up on his own terms, but once he trusts you, you'll get to see the sweet and affectionate side that we know and love. He enjoys pets, but he can become overstimulated, so he'll need a family who can understand when he's trying to communicate that he's had enough for now, thank you. Due to his sensitive nature, Leo would do best in a home without young children. Leo believes that the most rewarding connection can't be rushed - it's earned over time and through lots of loving care. If you agree, you and Leo could be the perfect fit! Contact us to learn more about giving him the second chance he deserves.

Shy/Fearful Cat:Leo requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
