Introducing Nutmeg, the bold explorer and royal security chief of the household. This curious tabby takes her job seriously—patrolling windows, guarding the front door, and making absolutely sure no squirrel gets too comfortable near her domain. She proudly announces her arrival in every room with a signature “meow,” making sure you know she’s there and ready for attention.
Nutmeg is funny, mischievous, and irresistibly charming. Her curiosity gets her into the silliest situations, providing endless entertainment. While she isn’t a fan of being held (and will tell you so!), when she’s in the mood for affection, she gives the deepest purrs and the biggest smile, then happily plops herself on top of your lap—sometimes for hours.
She’s beautifully social, friendly, and very interactive. Nutmeg enjoys toys, feather teasers, fetch, bird videos, and hanging out wherever her humans are. She’s adaptable, playful, and shines in a home that gives her space to explore and people to chat with—she’s bilingual too (English/French)!
Nutmeg would do well with adults, couples, or families with respectful children or teens who understand that she likes affection on her terms. She previously lived with a family and is comfortable in a household setting.

Our kitten adoption fee is $175 per kitten or $300 for a pair of kittens. Our cat (over 1 year old) adoption fee is $150.
We are a foster home based rescue. All interested adopters fill out an adoption application prior to meeting a dog or cat. All animals are fully vetted prior to finalized adoption and a home visit is done before the adoption is completed.

CARF works independently and in conjunction with other responsible rescue organizations. CARF advocates for proactive legislation to prevent and punish animal abuse, supports animal awareness campaigns targeting at-risk children and adults, sponsors animal assistance programs for marginalized individuals, and funds educational programs to enlighten future generations for the betterment of animal welfare and responsible animal stewardship. We serve Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area.
