My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾✨ Meet Rikko – A Spirited Sweetheart Who Loves Her Friends! ✨🐾
She was rescued from a dog meat farm in Yeoju, Korea, where she was the tiniest among 13 dogs facing a tragic fate.

📌 Basic Info
❤ Age: 1 year
❤ Gender: Female
❤ Weight: 29 lb
❤ Breed: Jindo mix
❤ Color: White with light brown ears

💛 Personality & Behavior
✔ Friendly with Women: Super affectionate – wags her tail and greets with love
✔ Friendly with Men: Just as affectionate – loves all people equally
✔ Kid-Friendly: Great with children – gentle and loves giving kisses
✔ Dog-Friendly: Extremely social – adores all dogs, big and small
✔ Cat-Friendly: Startled but shows no aggression when seeing cats
✔ Aggression: None
✔ Energy Level: High – loves to run and play, especially off-leash
✔ Handling: Very comfortable with being touched and handled
✔ Barking: Rare, though may bark at older men wearing hats
✔ Escape Tendencies: None, but still in leash/harness training
✔ Destructive Behavior: Normal puppy chewing – loves her wooden chew sticks

🏡 Training & Habits
✔ House Training: Fully pee-pad trained – very reliable indoors
✔ Crate Training: In progress – shows no resistance
✔ Leash Walking: Was initially scared, but now walks confidently
✔ Leash Reactivity: None – friendly to both dogs and people
✔ Car Rides: Calm and relaxed
✔ Food: Great appetite – enjoys kibble, duck, and salmon

🌟 Ideal Home
Rikko thrives in the company of other dogs and would do wonderfully in a home with a friendly dog companion.
However, she could also do very well as a solo pup with a loving human.

A yard would be a bonus for her playful spirit, but she is also apartment-friendly as long as she gets enough activity and stimulation.

💖 Why Rikko is Special
Rikko is playful, smart, and incredibly loving.
Despite her difficult early life, she is full of joy and ready to bloom with her forever family.

✨ Adopt Rikko and help her begin a beautiful new chapter! ✨

Additional adoption info

At Welcome Paws Korean Dog Rescue, our adoption process is thoughtfully designed to ensure the best possible match between our dogs and their future families. After submitting the application form on our website, our team carefully reviews your information to determine whether your home and lifestyle align with the needs of the dog you're interested in. If your application appears to be a good fit, we will reach out to schedule a phone or video interview. This step is typically followed by a reference check and, in many cases, a virtual or in-person home visit. Once approved, we’ll work closely with you to finalize the adoption and arrange transportation or pick-up. Our goal is to support both our dogs and adopters throughout the entire process, ensuring a smooth, positive, and lasting transition.

More about this rescue

Welcome Paws Korean Dog Rescue is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, run entirely by a passionate team of volunteers who are deeply committed to the welfare and well-being of animals. Our mission is to rescue dogs in need and give them a second chance at life.

We believe every animal—regardless of age, size, or breed—deserves to experience love, safety, and the comfort of a forever home. Through our rescue efforts, we work to create brighter futures for these deserving animals, ensuring they have the opportunity to live happy, healthy lives.

Our dedication goes beyond rescue. We work tirelessly to save stray, neglected, abused, and at-risk shelter animals. Each dog in our care lives in a loving foster home and receives full medical attention before being matched with a permanent family.

We also strive to raise awareness about the importance of compassion and responsible pet ownership. By providing adopters with quality education and support, we ensure each adoption is successful and lasting. We don’t measure success in numbers—but in the positive, life-changing impact we make for both animals and the families who welcome them home.
