Tallulah is a gorgeous Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix who’s just shy of 3 years old and ready to melt your heart. Her foster family says she may be shy at first, but once she warms up, she becomes an absolute cuddle bug. Tallulah is incredibly smart and picks up new things quickly—she even learned to ring a bell to go outside after just a few tries! She’s house trained, crate trained, and already knows sit and down, and she’s working on stay along with a few other cues.
This sweet girl does get scared easily and needs a home where she’ll feel safe, protected, and loved. Loud noises and new experiences can be overwhelming for her, but with gentle exposure and patient reassurance, she’s learning that the world isn’t so scary after all. Tallulah is a sensitive, affectionate, and intelligent companion who’s ready to thrive with a calm, caring family by her side.
When Tallulah arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm.
The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Tallulah to be during treatment and recovery is with a loving, forever family.
If you choose to adopt her, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support.
The process from detection to final treatment generally takes about three months and includes simple at-home steps to help keep Tallulah safe while she heals. The final step is a follow-up test six months after her treatment begins.
The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff fully expects Tallulah to make a complete recovery! And just so you know, Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal through mosquitoes.
