My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ginger Snap — Sweet, Silly, and Ready for a Forever Family!

Meet Ginger Snap, a total sweetheart with a playful spirit and the gentlest little heart. She’s still a baby, learning and growing every day—especially by watching and mimicking her big brother during training sessions. She’s already mastered SIT and OFF, and even though she’s still working toward fully dependable potty training and a few more cues, she wants to learn and is making steady progress.

Ginger Snap is a social girl and has been raised alongside her sibling, but she may thrive even more as a single-dog family member or with dogs who aren’t related to her—she tends to lean heavily on her brother for confidence, even during separate training time.

She’s also very vocal and expressive, especially when she needs attention or has to potty. She’s great at letting her foster mom know when it’s time to go out—but sometimes her excitement for walks or outdoor play leads to a few little accidents. She’s still a pup, and with consistency, reassurance, and routine, she’s improving every day.

After playtime and exploring, Ginger Snap becomes a nap-time queen. She loves finding a cozy spot—her bed, the couch, or the lap of a comfy human—to curl up and snooze.

Ginger Snap is loving, eager to learn, and full of puppy charm. She’s ready for a family who will guide her gently, cheer her on as she learns, and adore her for the sweet girl she already is.

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
