My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Codex
If you are like me, you may be wondering about my name. Interestingly, most books use the codex format, a stack of pages bound on one side. I am not a big reader, but if you are, my name might appeal to you. I am a 5-year-old female, already spayed and litter box trained. That is a dead giveaway that I was once someone’s pet. But my coat is one of the things I’m most proud of. It is a combination of orange, brown, and white with tabby markings, but I also have some orange starbursts on my sides. I was found as a stray in Carmel and brought to the HSHC on November 11. I had a bit of a head cold, but the medical staff helped me recover in time to transfer to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC)! I am a friendly, very confident, self-assured lady, and I made it clear to all the other cats that I liked to be a leader, not a follower. The day the interviewer lady (IL) stopped by to meet the newest arrivals, I gave her a quick sniff, allowed a few pets, and then I was back to surveying the place. I guess I am a type A individual, organized, ambitious, and high-achieving. The staff at SKCC noticed this about me, and they respect me. If you are in the market for a no-nonsense type of cat, please consider my application for a forever home. Sincerely yours,
Codex 12-8-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
