My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Leon arrived:
Leon was brought in by a community member on 10/28/2025.

Why Leon is the one for you:
Leon is a loyal, affectionate dog who thrives in a calm, consistent environment, making him a wonderful match for a small, quiet family. While he prefers a home without frequent visitors, he shines with the people he knows and trusts, forming deep, meaningful bonds. Leon has shown positive, friendly behaviors toward other dogs and could enjoy the company of a canine companion. He does best with a bit of personal space-his own "bubble"-so a home without children under 8 and with patient, understanding adopters would help him feel safe and confident. With the right family, Leon's gentle heart and steady devotion will truly flourish.

At SDHS:
Leon has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Leon is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
