If you are looking for a companion lap dog, look no farther.

Introducing Eleanor, she's a 12 lb. 8-year-old Shih Tzu. Eleanor was recently returned to Needy Paws Rescue because her mama had to go into a nursing home and couldn't take Eleanor with her.

Eleanor is a precious little girl that loves her food, being brushed but not a fan of getting her eyes cleaned or nail trimmed. Eleanor is crate trained housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash.

Eleanor prefers women and tolerates men but shy's away from them she WOULDN'T do good with small children. Eleanor barks at strangers but will warm up if given time Eleanor was a breeder release dog which means she is shy and skittish.

The best home for Eleanor will be a women only home and a small companion dog, a fenced yard unless taken out on a leash to potty. No small children please. Eleanor will be available for adoption after the 3rd of December. Her foster mom will be very choosy as to who adopts Eleanor.

Eleanor’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.

We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.

Adopters will complete an Adoption Application which is sent to the dog's Foster Parent. Their personal & veterinarian references will be checked, a home visit conducted then the Foster Parent will set up a meeting where the Adopters will meet the dog. If the adoption is approved, the Adopter will then complete an Adoption Contract and the dog is theirs!

Adoption fees vary. Puppies are $250.00 and Adult Dogs range from $125.00 to $250.00.

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
