Hi! my name is Kate.

Im a 5-month-old mixed breed pup, and while I might be a little shy when we first meet, dont worry-I warm up quickly, especially if theres another dog around. I absolutely love other dogs! Having a confident canine friend helps me feel brave and shows me how fun the world can be. Once I feel safe, my personality really starts to bloom.

Ive been lucky enough to go on several Slumber Pup sleepovers with some wonderful volunteers, and guess what? Im a big-time cuddler. When the lights go down and its time to relax, Im happiest curled up close, soaking in all the love. Ive even met a few cats! I wasnt quite sure what to think of them, but I politely watched from a respectful distance-no drama here.

I came to Great Plains from another shelter and spent most of my puppyhood waiting for my chance at a real home. Now Im ready for that next chapter-a forever family who will help me keep building confidence and show me what it means to truly belong.

If youre looking for a gentle, dog-loving pup with a snuggly side and a heart full of hope, Id love to meet you. Maybe this time, I get to go home for good

Please note that we operate by first come, first serve along with adoption approval. Wait times may vary depending on the time of week and day.
We are reserving Mondays and Tuesdays for appointments for members of the public who are immunocompromised or are still uncomfortable being in large crowds due to COVID-19.
If you have any questions about our adoptable pets, please call (913) 831-7722 or email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org. Our expert matchmakers look forward to finding you the perfect furry family member!
Adoption Requirements:
- Adopter must be 18 years of age or older.
- Adopters must complete a survey and present photo identification to meet any of our animals.
- For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets.
- Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $350. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand.
