My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 08/10/2021) If you are looking for a GREAT family dog, you better check out Bonita!! She’s wonderful with children and will gladly snuggle with them all day if given the chance. Her affectionate personality extends to everyone she meets; she's friendly with strangers, other dogs (she does love other dogs!!), and even cats. Bonita, is affectionately known as BB, because of her sweet, easy-going personality who just wants to be close to her people. She’s more than a pet—she’s a loyal friend, a gentle soul, and a heartwarming presence in any home. Her calm, gentle nature makes her an absolute delight to be around. She is a good choice for a first time doggie person, too.

While not high-energy, BB enjoys her outdoor time and does well in public outings and loves going with you on car rides. BB does not require a fenced in yard as long as her fur-ever family has time to take her out for daily strolls and potty breaks. Because of that, BB would be fine in an apartment, condo, or townhome. She is talkative at times, and it is very adorable. She'd be happy with another doggie friend in the home, but it isn't a requirement.

When her family leaves the house, she goes into her crate without fuss and waits patiently for their return. Other than that, she is very, very good in the house and is out and about when her family is home. House-trained and crate-trained, BB has never had an accident indoors. She sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate or curled up with her foster kiddos (probably, her favorite place to be). During the day, she’s just as content lounging on the couch or snoozing under your feet. She doesn't have much interest in toys, but she’ll never say no to a tasty treat. Who doesn't??

BB's shiny, silky, black coat, her great smile, and ears that you just can't miss make her absolutely beautiful. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a lovable girl, BB is really going to make someone very happy and very much loved!

As part of Bonita’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Bonita, you can complete an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
