My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say Hello to Isaiah!

Isaiah is a 10 year old senior male cat looking for a cozy place to call home and a gentle hand to call his. Isaiah is a friendly old man, but he does like to take his time getting to know new people and adjust to new environments before really letting his personality shine. Once he`s comfortable he turns into a complete lovebug, though he does prefer interactions to happen on his terms and does not like being picked up or excessively handled.

Isaiah doesn`t ask for much, just a comfy home with a soft bed to call his own and a kind person, or family, who can give him all the attention he asks for. While he has previously lived with both cats and dogs, Isaiah can be selective with the animals he prefers to co-exist with and may be happier with a more mellow companion, or as the only cat in his forever home.

We highly recommend slow introductions to any potential cat or canine companions in his forever home. A slow intro will help ensure that both Isaiah and his new feline friend feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence.

Looking for a sweet senior boy to add to your household? Stop by the Humane Society of Summit County today and meet Isaiah!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
