My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Despite the origin of his name, this cat feels absolutely sent from heaven. He is essentially a sour patch cat- 85% sweet with a 15% naughty side that comes out with playful bites and wrapping his paws around your arm.
If you are someone who is looking for a “Velcro cat,” a cat that is going to be your absolute companion and walk beside you wherever your journey takes you (and I do mean wherever- he would likely be an amazing cat to harness train), a cat that is really giving dog energy with occasional catisms sprinkled in so we don’t discover he’s really three smol dogs in a trenchcoat. Despite his occasional attempts at fur-ociousness, he is more of a lover boy and will rub his head on you asking for pets, curl up in your lap, and pur so loud you will get noise complaints (just kidding it’s not that loud but man is this boi a purr baby).
Whomever is lucky enough to make this guy their new partner in crime will end up with a smol but fierce bestie who’s equal parts derpy, dopey, dreamy, and adorrrrable!
They will have to work around Dante’s full time job- he is an avid baker and is constantly working to meet his quota for the day so will make biscuits whenever, wherever and however he can.
He makes biscuits in the air, on your back, in your lap, on a blanket, etc. he’s an incredibly hard worker so needs a companion that supports his work ethic- those biscuits aren’t going to make themselves!
In all seriousness, I have no idea how a cat like this found himself on the streets with nobody looking after him because he’s literally perfect and full of personality. He deserves a loving, lasting, forever home who appreciate him for his many talents, quirks, chirps, biscuits, and energy. And if somebody doesn’t come and get him soon, I’m going to end up with 5 cats and a 7 month old golden retriever puppy and every second that goes by weakens my resistance to keep this amazing boi all to myself!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is designed with the pet and the family in mind. We look to make the process as easy and efficient as possible for our adopters, while also preserving the key safeguards that ensure we place our kitties with loving homes they can be sure to stay with forever. Sometimes we may ask for a virtual home visit via video or FaceTime to gain more insight into what kind of kitty will best fit your lifestyle and environment.

Go meet their pets

Friends of Normie is an entirely foster based rescue so all of our adoptable cats reside with their foster families who are located across Orange, LA, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. We have a kitty for every family and locale, so we will work to match you with a feline friend who matches both your desires and your location.

More about this shelter

It all started in 2020 when Friends of Normie founder Ladan Davia found a mother cat and six kittens on the side of the road. All of the shelters and rescues she called in hopes of ensuring this feline family’s safety told her to leave them outside or that they were at capacity. So Ladan went to her local hardware store, bought a trap, and set up a makeshift shelter for the seven cats in her bathroom.

Through the local cat network Ladan got connected to Marla, a rescuer with 25 years of rescue experience. Together, they rescued thousands of cats over the next two years, setting the foundation for what Friends of Normie is today. Without a physical facility, Marla and Ladan utilized a network of committed volunteer fosters to give new rescues temporary, loving homes until they were adopted. Along the way, FON harnessed the power of social media to mobilize the Southern California cat community.

This community began to gain traction as more and more people began following its journey. Today, Friends of Normie has over 44,000 followers who support the rescue and collectively help cats get matched with fosters and adopters quickly.
