We rescued Thelma as a stray from a NC shelter. Little did we know she was pregnant! Thelma is likely a purebred Siberian Husky. Dad is unknown but must be HUGE given how big the puppies are. We're guessing St. Bernard but really do not know. DNA is pending.

The pups will be able to leave the first weekend of January and we'd love to have furever homes lined up for them.

Adopters should plan to pick the pups up from either Virginia Beach, VA or Severn, MD (foster's home or rescue). We will not be transporting them at this age. Anyone wishing to adopt should have another dog in the home to help continue their socialization or a solid plan to keep them socialized.

We require they are spayed/neutered by 6 months old. We will provide a spay/neuter appointment with their adoption with our vet in MD. If you live out of state, you can have your vet perform the spay/neuter and submit proof back to the rescue, but we will only cover cost up to the amount our vet would charge - any difference is the adopter's responsibility.

These pups will be active dogs and will need an active lifestyle. At the time of adoption, they can only be left unsupervised for 2 hour intervals. These pups cannot be left home alone if you work full days out of the house. We have no way of knowing if they will be cat friendly. If you plan to adopt and have cats, you'll need a solid way of separating the cats from the dogs should they develop prey drives. We do not want to see a dog returned to us because they have Husky instincts! (we will ask you about your plan if you have cats!)  They are also a very vocal group, so please be mindful of your neighbors if you live in a multi-family dwelling.

Please make sure you have the means to accommodate their needs.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

Our application can be seen here: www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

We screen all applicants by calling personal references, landlords, vet references, conducting a phone interview and doing a home inspection. We do allow for a two week trial period after the adoption contract is signed. We back our dogs for life.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have visiting hours.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c) (3) nonprofit animal rescue organization. Our organization saves, rehabilitates, and rehomes Siberian Huskies (and other breeds of dogs) who are abandoned and are in kill shelters. We provide medical and behavioral services and rehome them to compatible families. We do this through volunteer efforts. Most of the dogs in need will come from the Southern States where the shelter kill rate is higher. We have a network of foster homes along the East Coast, while our adoption locations can be found in Maryland and New Jersey.
