Turkey Trot - known as Gwynnie to her foster family - is a sensitive 6-year-old seeking a patient adopter who understands that real love takes time to bloom. After coming to BARCS through no fault of her own, Gwynnie quickly became shut down and stopped eating in the shelter. But since landing in a foster home, she has transformed into a confident, curious girl who loves gentle pets and her nightly treat routine!
Gwynnie loves quiet time with her people, using her scratching post, rolling in catnip on the rug, and napping on soft blankies. She’s a big fan of eating dry food and treats from her puzzle toys – she likes to show the resident cats how smart she is! She doesn’t meow much, but she’ll chirp like a bird to say hello or let you know if her breakfast is late.
Gwynnie is still cautious with her interactions and enjoys affection on her own terms, but take it slow and she’ll be your best friend! She can be temperamental about when and how she receives touch, but her food puzzles and scratching post help manage any overstimulation. She also benefits from having some private space where she can feel safe and decompress when needed.
Gwynnie eats pate and dry food, and she has perfect litter box habits. Because she can overstimulate at times, she’d do best in a home without young children. Even though she can be nervous, she has done great with the resident cats in her foster home and enjoys communal time with them. With slow introductions, she could do well with other cats in her forever home, but she’d also be delighted to be your only pet.
She’s a great fit for a patient, gentle adopter who is seeking quiet companionship and will respect her boundaries. In return, Gwynnie will reward you with the deepest bond of loyalty and love.
