My name is Dolly and I am a black domestic shorthair. I am a spayed female and I am 5 months old. I am at the shelter because I was found as a stray on 09/12/2025. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a medium energy cat and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally sneak out on their way out the door. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with other cats and I can be good with dogs.
My foster parent had this to say about me:
Dolly is such a sweet girl. She is so easy going and lets you pet her wherever. She loves to be held, kissed, and carried like a baby. Her favorite toy is a bathrobe string! :) She is very kind and leaves new cats alone for the most part. She loves her siblings and our dogs! The dogs groom her and she grooms them! It’s precious.
MJ, Nikki, Brooks, Jagger, and Dolly are littermates who arrived as babies in critical condition. The combined efforts of staff and their incredible foster families, they are alive, healthy, and thriving! They were a BIG litter (a few of their siblings are already adopted) so they are spread between two different fosters homes. These adorable babies are READY for adoption and READY to love on you!

Additional adoption info
The Ames Animal Shelter's adoption process is all about ensuring the right match for the benefit of both the people and the animal. We use our application screening process to pre-approve applicants for general adoption. This gets all the boring paperwork stuff out of the way so when you come in to the shelter we can focus with you on finding the perfect furry friend match.
Our applications are not a simple pass/fail process, but instead are an opportunity for us to gather information on the needs of your family and the situation you'll be bringing an animal into.
