My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Frankie-a petite, shiny-black queen with a big personality packed into a small, elegant frame. I'm really a "midnight masterpiece." I'm a lover at heart. I'll curl right into your lap, purr like it's my full-time job, and soak up every bit of attention you're willing to give. But fair warning: when the pets go from perfect to a bit too much, I might give you a tiny swish of the tail or a sassy little look to remind you that even sweet girls have boundaries. I'm playful, charming, and full of attitude in all the right ways-and I know exactly how to get what I want (usually snacks or more chin scratches). If you're looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart, a sleek coat, and just a hint of diva sparkle, I'm your girl.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1955, Woods Humane Society is a nonprofit organization which receives no tax funds, but is supported by donations, grants, bequests, fundraising events and fees for services. Woods is independent of San Luis Obispo County Animal Services, but works in close cooperation with them and other animal groups in the county for the welfare of all animals.

Woods now cares for over 3,000 cats and dogs each year at our facilities in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero until they can be united with loving forever families. We bring in animals from other shelters where they are less likely to be adopted and from individuals who are no longer able to care for their pets. Woods is committed to finding loving homes for all healthy and treatable pets, no matter how long it takes. With our behavior and veterinary resources, we are able to go the extra mile for animals in need.
