My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I have lived with cats in my previous home.

I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.

I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.

I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

Tambourine is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and displays some defensive aggression (hissing and small lunges) as warning signs, he appears wary of human contact. However, with a slow and considerate approach, he tolerates attention and appreciates petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
