My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When our NC rescue partner reached out to tell me about Hank I was ready to say, we just can't- we are full. But, after over 15 years in rescue I have learned there are times a dog was sent my way with the help of another dog that had been in my life. In the case of Hank it was my sisters dog, Runner, who led him our way. At only 7 years old, the loss of Runner to cancer was hard to accept when we said goodbye to him! And so in memory of Runner we welcomed this boy! And when we learned how sweet and "almost perfect" he was, we were glad he became a Diamond Dog.

Tossed from a care and then hit by a car, our partners friend witnessed this, picked him up and tood him to her vet to check over while Laurie reached out to us for rescue. Thankfully he was not seriously hurt and our vet took care of all his follow up for rescue. It was at our vets we learned of his anxiety at their boarding. He was so scared they had to hand feed him and hold him tight to comfort him. When he went to his foster mom's we learned it was not his personality but the environment.

He is fully vetted and around a year old. He's been neutered, microchipped and on preventatives. His foster says he is a gentle and sensitive soul. In the shelter he looked to humans to give him comfort when he was scared. With his foster he's proven to be one awesome dog. Hes good in the car, good at work, good at the beach with a gang of people he'd just met when visiting the fosters friends, he's loving and easy going. Just fits in wherever he is. Add to that housebroken good in the house. He does not like the crate.

More about this rescue

Our rescue focus is on adult dogs from the southeast that are in high kill shelters OR ABANDONED. Our plan is to fully vet, evaluate, and train as needed in preparation for adoption. When we save a life from the shelter, he is taken straight to the vet for a health checkup and while he is there The DOG will be neutered or spayed, receive shots and given a microchip. The rescues will then go to foster care in a home setting to prepare them for a home of their own. This helps to determine the best match for each rescue. Our goal is to make sure lives we save never end up homeless and scared again.
