Honey was abandoned at the Dollar General Store in Gordonville, Texas. At the time she was abandoned, she was very pregnant. Honey had nine puppies. All her puppies have found homes. Now it is her turn to find a home.
It took the good Samaritans who rescued her a few days to win her trust before they could take her home to have a safe place to have her babies. So, she does well with other dogs, unfortunately they have two dogs, and one isn’t really dog friendly so they can’t keep her.
It appears Honey may have been traumatized/bullied/abused by her previous owners or their children.
Below is what the foster mom wrote to me:
We didn’t realize till after she had her puppies that she is kid aggressive towards little children. She will growl at them. You can honestly tell she has been abused. Whether it be from children and/or maybe adults as well. She’s still skittish towards me sometimes when I put my hand out but I’m sure it’s trauma. When it comes to other people other than me and my spouse, she really doesn’t let anyone get close to her. She doesn’t get aggressive; she just runs off like she’s scared. Certain things will trigger her when she’s downstairs with us, and she will take off running to her room. She’s all around a great dog. She listens so well by command. Unfortunately, we have nieces and nephews that come over often and I have to keep them separated. I don’t want anyone to get hurt because she has underlying issues with small children.
It took a couple months for her goofy side to come out but she’s a playful energetic dog. I’m thinking she’s maybe 2 years old. But I’m no expert so I could be wrong.
It sounds like Honey would do well in a home with adults and a friendly dog sibling. If you would like to meet Honey, please feel free to contact us and/or complete an adoption application on our website. www.chloespetrescue.org/application
She will be fully vetted (all vaccinations and spayed) for adoption

Additional adoption info
We are a RESCUE ORGANIZATION; please complete your online Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. We require an adoption application, vet reference, and a home visit with the pet. ALL of our pets are spayed, neutered or scheduled prior to being adopted. They are UTD on shots, heartworm negative, treated or scheduled to be treated, and micro chipped. They must be kept on heartworm preventative for the rest of their lives. Our adoption fees vary. Puppies have an increased adoption fee since they need three or four sets of shots, multiple de-wormings, and other puppy needs to keep them healthy.

CPR is an animal rescue organization run solely by volunteers. Our primary goal is to save dogs from euthanization at shelters as a result of factors such as a lack of funding and space. These wonderful animals are put at risk because they have no one to claim and adopt them. We aim to give them the second chance that they so deserve. Our animals come to us from shelters around DFW and stay in foster homes where they are given the medical attention (vaccinations, surgeries, heart worm testing, etc) and care that they deserve.
