Lovely Rita’s journey began when she was found pregnant at a local shelter. She came into rescue, safely delivered five beautiful babies, and lovingly raised them all. Now that her mama duties are complete, it’s her turn to find a forever home of her own.
Lovely Rita is FIV positive, which simply means she carries the virus. In her case, it has not slowed her down at all—she healed wonderfully from both her spay and a hernia repair. Some FIV-positive cats may take a bit longer to recover from illness, but many, like Rita, live long, happy, normal lives. She is calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet.
FIV is only transmitted through deep bite wounds or deep scratches. It cannot be passed to humans or dogs. Cats with FIV can safely share litter boxes, food bowls, nap spots, grooming time, and daily life with other cats. There are many myths surrounding FIV, and we’re always happy to share accurate information with anyone who’d like to learn more.
Lovely Rita adores pets and affection and has a soft, loving presence. She does well with other cats given a proper introduction. While she hasn’t been around dogs that we know of, she would likely do fine with a cat-friendly dog after a slow introduction. She is also good with children.
