My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET "FINLEY" TEXAS, HOUSTON

LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS

EMAIL: BigPawsK9FosterHouse@gmail.com

AVAILABLE FOR: FOSTER TO ADOPT/ADOPTION

NAME: "FINLEY"

DOB: 12/5/24

BREED: ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK MIX

GENDER: FEMALE

SIZE: LARGE

HEALTH: GOOD

NOTES: Finley is a stunning blend of gentleness and intelligence, with a calm confidence that draws you in. At 7.5 months old, this Anatolian Shepherd/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix already shows the wisdom and poise of a natural-born leader—but don’t worry, she’s just as loving and clever as she is independent.

Finley is wonderful with kids and other dogs, and she’s already demonstrating great manners: she keeps her kennel room clean and potties outside using a doggy door like a pro.

As with many Anatolians, Finley has a strong sense of self and prefers a life with structure and respectful leadership. She will thrive with a kind but confident handler who understands the breed’s instincts and values her thoughtful, steady nature.

If you're looking for a loyal companion with both heart and brains—someone who will walk beside you, not behind—Finley might just be your perfect match.

Finley and her siblings came into this world under heartbreaking circumstances. Their momma, an Anatolian Shepherd, was tragically hit and killed by a car while roaming the streets when the puppies were just 3 weeks old. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan stepped in and reached out for help, and now these resilient pups are thriving together and living their best lives.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Big Paws K9 Foster House is to establish a secure and nurturing haven for Anatolian Shepherds, Kangal, Great Pyrenees, Akbash and their mixes rescued from shelters, the streets, or unfortunate circumstances. Our dedicated team ensures a transitional environment either at the facility or within a foster home for these dogs until suitable forever homes can be identified for adoption. Throughout their stay with us, we prioritize the well-being of the dogs by affording them dedicated decompression time, compassionate care, and expert guidance. Our commitment extends to active engagement through structured work/play sessions, allowing us to comprehensively evaluate each dog's unique characteristics.
This thorough evaluation process enables us to provide detailed insights to our fosters, adopters, and our partnering rescue organizations. By offering a nuanced understanding of each dog's temperament, behavior, and needs, we aim to facilitate informed decision-making in placing these dogs into loving and appropriate homes.
Committed to education, we also promote spaying/neutering and work to make affordable vetting accessible within our community, championing responsible pet ownership for all.
