My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr. Muffins is a young dog with an old soul. You can tell he's been around the block and knows a thing or two about living as a stray, but he's ready to make the transition to living as a loving member of the family! Mr. Muffins is timid in new environments, but with TLC and time, his personality starts to show. He looks forward to his walks every day and enjoys one on one time with volunteers. The best way to get to know Mr. Muffins is to stop by and meet him! We're open Tuesday-Saturdays for meet and greets.

Mr. Muffins is 2 years old and weighs 20 pounds. His coat will require regular grooming, so please be prepared to budget in trips to the groomer every 6-8 weeks.

All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated according to age, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention before adoption unless otherwise noted for age or health reasons.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Tuolumne County is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization established December 12, 1947 . At that time, however, there was no facility. The animals available for adoption were kept in volunteers’ homes. In the late 1980’s, the Humane Society gained a business office, but the animals were still kept in the homes of volunteers. Then, in 1997, the Humane Society acquired its current facility in Jamestown where we house animals available for adoption and provide other community programs such as spay/neuter assistance.

Our mission: Find Homes for abandoned, abused and unwanted cats & dogs, while promoting responsible pet ownership, and maintaining a clean and safe haven for adoptable unwanted dogs and cats.

We are 100% supported through private donations and volunteers.

The HSOTC does not euthanize an animal unless our team agrees its quality of life is critically compromised.

We accept as many animals for adoption that our donations and volunteers can support. More donations and volunteers=more happy adopted pets and fewer animals euthanized.
