Cleopatra came to our home with her kittens and is now enjoying the single life after the kittens scampered to new homes. She's relaxed into a sweet kitty who is polite and warm. She has embraced having a whole house without limitations on her life, she loves to explore and sit in windows to watch the world go by. She has, in our experienced, also embraced being inside instead of trying to bolt for the outdoors anytime a door is open. She's not that interested anymore! She seeks out the sunbeams, loves sleeping on the bed with us at night, stays nearby where you are (but isn't clingy, just wants to see you). She's been great with our kids, aloof with our dog (a win in our books) and friendly with the other cat currently in the house (male). She's friendly, playful and extremely soft. She's not a chatty cat, she's only ever meowed a couple of times overall. She's interested in learning how to be a lap cat, but in the meantime wants to sit next to you. In terms of kids/dog, she's friendly with both of our kids and to younger ones who have stopped in as well. She's aloof but stays put when our dog comes around, there is a potential future where she would curl up with a friendly dog. She's been sweet and amiable to the other cat in our house as well, so doesn't need to be an only cat. She has not swiped at anyone, uses the litterbox with regularity and loves her dry food way more than wet food.

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
