My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ray is a gentle soul with a heart full of love; she just needs a little time to show it. She can be shy at first and prefers a few slow, patient introductions before she truly feels comfortable. But once she warms up? She transforms into the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet.

Ray adores giving kisses and will happily lean in for cuddles and pets. Butt scratches are her absolute favorite, and she’ll let you know with a happy wiggle. She’s also very treat-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding for everyone.

When Ray gets extra excited, she may break out her adorable zoomies, but she settles down quickly and loves to relax with her people. She’ll thrive in a home where visitors are introduced slowly and gently, allowing her to build trust at her own pace.

Overall, Ray is a tender, loving companion who just needs a little patience to blossom, and once she does, she’ll shower you with affection every day.

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
