My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gonzo 🐾
Gonzo is one of our Shih Tsky mix siblings, about 9 months old. Like the rest of his litter he arrived very unsocialized and shutdown, unsure of people and new experiences. With patience and structure he has been slowly opening up and learning that people can be kind and safe.

Gonzo has a soft, scruffy coat and stunning eyes that catch everyone’s attention. Once he feels comfortable he is playful and sweet, and he enjoys spending time with other dogs. He has been fine around our chickens and turkey and has been respectful around our resident cat, Fry.

Gonzo is neutered and up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations.

Like his brothers, he will be on the smaller side of medium, around 35 lbs. If you are willing to give a shy dog time to settle in and blossom, Gonzo could be your new best friend.

You can meet our dogs & puppies at our rescue located at
1681 Parkway Dr. Crescent City, Ca.
Please give us a call or text at (707) 457-2511 to let us know you are coming and which dog or puppy you are interested in. We have adoption events we attend or host during the year so please check our Facebook page "Camp Barry"

More about this rescue

Camp Barry is an all volunteer based 501(c)(3) non profit located in Crescent City, California.

We specialize in taking litters of unwanted, neglected and abandoned puppies. We have also pulled older medical dogs and puppies from our local pound, we have provided a safe space for dogs to stay and decompress until they can be transferred to another rescue and if we have space available we do take owner surrenders.

To us it doesn't matter where they come from or how long they will spend with us, all we know is they need and deserve a safe, loving and nurturing environment until they can find a forever home
We work with and begin training with every dog & puppy while at our rescue. This gives them a good start to a new life.

Camp Barry has saved hundreds of dogs and puppies since we began our mission in January 2018!

We work on social skills, positive reinforcement, potty training and show them what it is like to live in a home with a family. We try to set each pup up for success and teach them skills that they can take with them when they are adopted into their forever families.
