If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We adopted our 4 year old dog from the shelter a few months ago, and he has been such a sweet companion. He gets along wonderfully with our two toddlers (ages 3 and 5) and loves playing with them. He’s energetic and affectionate, though his excitement can sometimes lead to slightly rough play he occasionally nips when the kids run, thinking it’s part of the game.
He is also very protective of our family. While this can be a great trait, it has created some challenges: he has tried to nip at our kids’ friends when he thought they were being too rough, even though they were just playing. Because of this, we keep him separated when guests are over to prevent any issues.
We truly believe he deserves a home where he can receive the love, attention, and training he needs. He’s a wonderful dog, but due to our daughter’s allergies and his protective instincts around visiting children, we’re unable to keep him.
