This helps Mile High Labrador Retriever Mission with pet care costs.
Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.
Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website.
We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run.
We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have.
Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.
General Notes | Winn Dixie is a beautiful, big-hearted girl with a sweet and unforgettable spirit! Just a few things her current foster says about her "Winn-Dixie is perfect, I mean it, just perfect!" She is "absolutely going to be one of the most difficult ones to say goodbye to!"
Personality | Winn-Dixie is super smart and so loveable! She is polite and respectful to humans and dogs alike.
Story | This sweet gal ended up at a Houston shelter and was set to be euthanized but thankfully MHLRM was able to save her!
Other Dogs | Winn- Dixie is currently being fostered with a pitbull who is usually not fond of any foster dogs and will let them know this. Winn-Dixie has completely respected him and picked up on his cues.
Cats | Great with cats
Children | Great with kids
Training | Man is this one smart! She obviously came from a family because she know the commands: kennel, sit, down, shake (on both paws), and fully house-trained!
Leash | She does great on a leash and can even figure out how to unwrap herself if she walks around a pole or a tree!
Activity Level | Winn-Dixie is all about relaxing! She loves to get some whip cream in a bowl and she will gently lick it and continously look up at you to say thank you and ensure that she's ok to be eating it! She still loves a good sniff walk, but is happy to relax with you!
Health Notes | Winn Dixie is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet girl!
Thank you! |
Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).
Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.
Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.
We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
